Libin Babu

Associate Professor of Physics & Engineering

Dr. Babu is passionate about creating novel learning environments that make engineering education exciting and rewarding in the 21st century. With rich experience in traditional and project-based learning techniques, he has devised a unique hybrid form of engineering education that transforms learning concepts into an engaging encounter for students of all backgrounds. In this endeavor Babu is constantly engaging with engineering communities across the globe to promote enhanced engineering learning experiences.

In his introductory Design Thinking course, students learn to think outside of the box and consider options that offer the best result for the stakeholders. Rather than tests with pre-defined problems, Babu guides students through the issues of real-world entities to identify what can be improved and iterate solutions while balancing constraints and leveraging opportunity.

Babus other research areas include investigating the mechanics of advanced materials such as fiber-reinforced composites, nanocomposites, and innovative energy absorption materials.
