Lama Htoi San Lu, Visiting Assistant Professor of Theology and Louisville Institute Postdoctoral Fellow, grounds her pedagogical practice in the Asian/American feminist tradition of acknowledging students voices and life experiences.
In my classroom, I encourage students to scrutinize the dominant assumptions of what counts as knowledge, Lama said. When students share their thoughts and reflections, I consider whose voices do we listen 喧棗?漍
Lama employs curiosity and generosity when engaging her students, asking how she can best welcome and accept each individual’s unique experience and help them connect with the subject matter effectively.
Her research and teaching interests include Christian theology and ethics, and migration and diaspora studies. She is passionate about cultivating and nurturing the ability and skills to read theological texts from ancient to contemporary critically and compassionately; articulate and engage in the long trajectory of theological discourse through writings and reflection in our everyday lives and ministerial contexts.
