Queers and Allies

Mission

Queers and Allies (Q&A) at ÂÜÀòÉç is dedicated to celebrating the diverse and intricate lives of LGBTQ+ students on campus, as well as providing a safe and comfortable space for students of all genders, sexualities, and backgrounds. Moreover, Q&A exists to assist with students who are struggling with sexuality, gender, and gender expression. Q&A hopes to unify all students on campus to educate students, faculty, and administration about issues related to the LGBTQ+. Q&A’s goal is to organize events that will cultivate meaningful relationships among all students of multiple, diverse backgrounds, as well as provide a safe and comfortable space for LGBTQ+ students in a small Christian community.

Objectives

Develop our student’s ability to contribute to the intellectual discourse of diverse perspectives

Throughout involvement in Q&A, participants will learn what it means to acknowledge and appreciate the intersections of the social and individual identities within the community at large. The LGBTQ+ community is vastly diverse, and its complexity is to be embraced and taught across campus. Students will learn how to balance and appreciate issues related to diversity and inclusion, to help promote North Park’s mission to provide a safe space for all of our rising scholars.

Promote student success in and outside of the classroom.

Students will be empowered to engage in opportunities that will enhance their college experience, leading them on the path to graduation.

Develop servant-leaders who model lives of significance and service.

Students will learn how to live into the mission of being a servant leader by serving with local nonprofits based in Chicago. Moreover, students will learn how to plan, promote, and execute socially-enriching programming relevant to creating a LGBTQ+ friendly community.
