Application to the Nursing Program

The North Park nursing major is an academically rigorous program offering outstanding clinical experiences. Admission is selective and not all students who apply are admitted, even by meeting all requirements. We accept 48 students each fall (August) and spring (January) semester.

Application Process

1. Apply to 蹤獲扦 (if you’re already an 蹤獲扦 student, go to Step 2.)

The School of Nursing reviews applications for acceptance into the nursing program from students who have been admitted to the university. Indicate nursing as your intended major before you register for your first semester of classes.

High-ability, first-year students have a Direct Admission option to the nursing program. Contact the admissions office at admissions@northpark.edu if you have further questions.

How to Apply to 蹤獲扦

Transfer Students

are welcome; however, priority is given to those who have completed more courses at North Park, as this enables us to better evaluate the education you have received.

Most transfer students may apply to the nursing major within one year of starting classes at North Park.

A transcript evaluation is required. The following courses may be considered for transfer credit with a grade of C or better upon review by the Baccalaureate Program Director:

Transfer credits are not accepted for the following core nursing courses:

A minimum North Park GPA and Science GPA of 2.75 on a scale of 4.00 is required. A C- grade is not acceptable. If a student earns a C- in one of the prerequisites, that course must be repeated but may not repeat more than two (2) nursing prerequisites; only one (1) of which can be a science course. Students should review the policy with their advisor in their first academic program meeting.

Students who have been enrolled in a nursing program within the last five years will need to provide the 蹤獲扦 BSN and DEMSN Nursing Record Form from the chief nursing administrator of the transfer college/university with their application to the baccalaureate nursing program.

Students who were enrolled in a nursing program for more than five years must apply with a letter from the student describing why they did not complete the program, what they learned, changes made, and how they plan to succeed if accepted into the BSN program at North Park.

2. Apply to the Nursing Program

The application must be completed online one full semester before the intended start. Completion of all requirements and meeting with the pre-nursing advisor is required.

The application deadline for fall 2025 is February 15, 2025.

The fall 2025 application will open December 2024.

To be eligible for an application review by the selection committee, a complete application packet must include the following supplemental items:

  • Resume
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination/boosters
  • Recommendation: The student must provide the name and email address of a faculty member who can speak to the students suitability for the nursing profession. If the applicant works in a healthcare setting, their recommender may also be their supervisor. The school will contact that individual with a recommendation request.
  • TEAS score at the Proficient level of preparedness (must have taken the TEAS within one year of applying). The applicant is required to enter the results on the online application.

Baccalaureate Student Information

Requirements for Admission into the Baccalaureate Nursing Program

The School of Nursing reviews applications only from those students who have been admitted to the University. In addition to meeting all University requirements, students must meet the following requirements at the time of applying to the School of Nursing:

    1. Cumulative North Park GPA of 2.75 or higher, on a 4-point scale.
    2. Cumulative Science GPA of 2.75 or higher, on a 4-point scale.
    3. Completion of all nursing prerequisites: A C- grade is not acceptable. If a student earns a C- in one of the science prerequisites or nursing supporting courses, that course must be repeated with a minimum grade of “C” or better. NOTE: Students may not repeat more than two (2) pre-requisite courses, only one (1) of which may be a science.
    4. Passage of the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with an academic preparedness level of proficient. Register at . Take it online, proctored by ATI.

All eligible candidates must complete a formal Online Application and submit supplemental documents.

The following courses, or their equivalents, must be completed with (minimum) C or better grade before admission into the nursing major; a C- grade is not acceptable. Students may not repeat more than two prerequisite courses; only one (1) of which may be a science*.

  • NURS 2100: Survey of Professional Nursing. 2 credits. Must be completed through 蹤獲扦.
  • NURS 2540 or EXS 3180: Nutrition. 2 credits.
  • NURS 3240: Pathophysiology.* 3 credits. Must be completed through 蹤獲扦.
  • PSYC 1000: Introduction to Psychology. 4 credits.
  • PSYC 2700: Human Lifespan Development. 4 credits.
  • SOC 1910: Introduction to Sociology. 4 credits.

Important Notes

Students may not apply to the nursing major until they have completed, or are enrolled in, all prerequisites at the time of the submission of their application (one full semester before their intended start). The TEAS穢 needs to have been taken within one year of this application.

The application to the nursing major must be completed with a pre-nursing advisor during the application meeting.
