Master of Arts in Education

Earn Your MA in Education

The master of arts in education (MAE) degree is designed for licensed teachers who wish to earn a master’s degree while continuing their career in teaching, or for individuals who want to expand their knowledge of the field but not seek a teacher’s credential. The MAE is focused on enhancing the skills and knowledge of professional educators, helping you advance your career and make significant contributions to the field as a teacher or member of the educational community.

Approvals and Endorsements

Enhance your skills through specialized endorsements or approvals alongside your master’s degree in education. North Park offers endorsements for bilingual, ESL, combined bilingual and ESL, and middle school, and a LBS1 Special Education approval. Learn more.

Individually-Designed Program

You know what you need to enhance your knowledge and advance your career. As soon as you’re admitted, you’ll work with a faculty advisor to plan your program of 34 graduate semester hours, focusing on areas that include educational environments, diversity, creatively developing and implementing new ideas, collaboration in leadership, and service to schools and communities. You can choose a thesis or non-thesis track for your master’s degree.

Scholarships and Tuition

A price tag doesn’t have to be a barrier to continuing your education and developing your skills as a teacher. North Park offers generous scholarship and grant options, including a discount for Chicago Public School teachers and employees. Anyone who earned their bachelor’s degree at North Park may qualify for an Alumni Grant, a 20% tuition reduction for starting a new graduate or teacher’s certification program.
