Studying STEM at North Park
STEM at North Park is experiential-based where students learn side-by-side with caring faculty, utilize state-of-the-art technology, and engage in hands-on learning opportunities on and off campus. The Division of Sciences consists of five departments:
Experience Science
At North Park science is more than just memorization and text books – here, students learn through experiencing science. With a hands-on academic approach, experiential learning opportunities seamlessly integrate into the daily and long-term skill-building curriculum through:
- Smart classrooms
- Smart laboratories
- One-on-one research with faculty
- Field experience in Chicago, nationally, and internationally
- Training in our lab safety program
- Working as a teaching assistant, tutor, writing advisor, or laboratory assistant
STEM Majors
Students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of in-demand majors:
- Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology

Well-established and professionally staffed Student Success Programs support the academic rigors of the STEM curriculum:
- Pre-health professions advising

Facilities
Housed in our state-of-the-art science facility, students experience science authentically. Smart technology extends from the classroom to the laboratory offering access to real-time information, modern technology, and specialized laboratories including:

STEM Scholars Cohort
North Park and the National Science Foundation (NSF) are committed to expand pathways for more undergraduate students to meet the nation’s need for well-educated scientists, engineers, and technicians. As part of a $650,000 grant from NSF, 20 selected first-year students each receive $5k per year for four years. Space is limited for this unique STEM immersion program with a focus on experiential learning.
